Ah! You said you like Kurumi too?
I confess one thing, I started to like Kurumi Wendy when I started exploring her in a roleplaying on Discord that I was invited to. Let's talk about some spoilers here. This will probably be a rant about the character, sorry for the long text.
I've seen a lot of criticism about her and her writing, and I can somewhat agree, she's an informant, she seems to have a lot of potential to be a detective or an investigative journalist, It's just my opinion, but I don't really like it being reduced to ""Love interest" of the protagonist, Yuma's girlfriend.
Tumblr media
I know it's just meant to be funny, to be a joke, but, I don't know, it seems a bit forced. I think Kurumi's ship with Yuma, Kokowendy, can be okay? It can be something innocent and cute, like puppy love, Her being a schoolgirl displeases me.
Probably, if she hadn't died for her clone, she would be an adult, 20 years old, right? Her homunculus clone won't be stuck at the same age forever, right? I imagine she could still be an adult, in the game, isn't she like a senior? Am I wrong? The girls at school having a respect for her and stuff, wouldn't she be finishing high school? And it's normal that games like this put 16 and 17 year old girls in high school (17 years old seems to be more popular)
I think she would be interesting and have potential.
Oh, don't get me wrong, I like her, I started to like her and I did some drawings, edit and gacha version of her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've been thinking about making her with different clothes, her hair down must be pretty, and I actually like her uniform in the game, the red and black is an interesting combination. Sorry, the description is really bad.
Tumblr media
I didn't like the first outfit very much, the second one is supposedly an outfit she would wear, she's always in uniform in the game, I know it's supposed to be part of her identity, buuut, Make her with another one, She can be stylish.
Her being 18 years old is supposed to be her post-game version, let's assume the game takes place at the beginning of the year or towards the middle of the year, and the epilogue could be close to her birthday month, She's always walking around alone, and I could imagine her sleeping at the detective agency at will? Not to mention her traveling alone too.
Also, seeing her being 18, or going to be 18, is because of leaving her ship with Yuma, less bad for me. (I have problems with age differences)
I heard some sad news about her on reddit, Apparently, the game's designer, Kazutaka Kodaka, said he wouldn't be interested in making a female protagonist in future games? Like, I don't know if this is real, if he said this on some social network or in an interview, but if it is true, it's a shame, Why couldn't Kurumi be like Komaru Naegi from Danganronpa Ultra Despair Girls? Even their names look alike!
Kurumi as the protagonist
Tumblr media
Remember games where you control high school student protagonists? Not Danganronpa. I thought of Corpse Party, in this game, you control high school students between 16-17 years old, although there are NPCs younger than that, and even 18 years old.
I'm sure Kurumi could be like Ayumi Shinozaki, but could she be like Sara Chidouin from Your Turn to Die? Or even Kaede Akamatsu from Danganronpa v3: Killing Harmony or Chiaki Nanami form Danganronpa 3 anime? Or even like Komaru Naegi, from the reviews that say Kurumi is "too normal" compared to the rest of the cast.
Whatever it is, I bet she's a sweet, gentle girl who wants to protect the few friends she has, She probably didn't even have many friends at school and lost one, and I don't know if the game really works much with this thing of the characters being lonely in many ways, I like to think of her as someone who is determined and wants to show her potential and not be a damsel in distress. I like the dynamic of a female character saving a male character.
She can be a bit of a sad character inside because of everything that happened to her in the past and in chapter 2, Working with her through her difficulties as a defective homunculus should be explored seriously, I don't mind a story from her point of view, She deserves character development, growth, and to learn that detectives is not heroes.
Well, that's my view of her, she's a cute and cool character, but she needs to improve, there's nothing like us fans having to do that, right? Especially if she's not the protagonist in a sequel. (If have another game), I hope you don't mind my view, I don't hate her or her ship with Yuma.

PROPAGANDA
KAEDE AKAMATSU (DANGANRONPA V3)
1.) (Spoilers for the game but)
First female protagonist in the three main games of the series. Advertised as the protagonist in all of the gameā€™s trailers and was hyped up, only to get brutally killed off at the end of the first chapter for shock value and to be replaced with a male protagonist. Itā€™s revealed in the end that the reason she died was completely made up and she was killed for convenience.
In the one chapter sheā€™s in thereā€™s a scene of her taking her shirt off, as well as a joke about the male protagonist accidentally looking up her skirt while sheā€™s climbing a ladder. Her legacy for the rest of the game is basically to act as the male protagonistā€™s reason for character development as he tries to become stronger.
2.) So disclaimer first that I think Kaede is actually really well-written as a character. She's interesting and feels fleshed out and despite dying early on, she haunts the narrative so strongly that she was one of my favorite characters for the whole game AND she's vital to the climax of the story. All that saidā€¦
Kaede was marketed as the protagonist of the game, making her the first female protagonist in the main DR series (there's a female protag in a spin-off but the two other games in the main series both had male protags). You start the game and you immediately notice she has a stronger personality than either of the male protags from the previous games, who, while I like them, tend to be the normal ones in an otherwise colorful cast. She felt like a break from the usual protag mold and we even got to have a male secondary character this time who relied on her for support. But. She isn't the protag. The guy I just mentioned is. You find out mid-trial 1 that Kaede is (sorta unintentionally) the killer and you switch control to the guy character and Kaede then dies at the end of the trial. As far as a plot goes, this was really really cool and well-executed, but it also means the game intentionally decided to pull a bait-and-switch where they advertised the "first female protag of the series!" only to kill her off early on and reveal the true protag was actually a guy who, once again is a character I like, but is much more similar to the previous two protags than Kaede was. There was literally no reason they had to put a female character as the false protag here, as the twist would've worked equally well or maybe even more if they revealed a typical male protag character was the killer and instead switched to a female protag for the rest of the game. Advertising Kaede as the first female main series protag while knowing she would be dead for the majority of the game and the actual protag would be a guy feels cheap and insulting, especially as a female player who was really excited to play as Kaede.
3.) She was the protagonist! But god forbid danganronpa has a female protagonist so (spoilers) she actually has to die sorry :( and then only exist in flashbacks the new male protagonist has where hes like damn wish we couldve dated
JUVIA LOCKSER (FAIRY TAIL) (CW: Stalking)
1.) Oh Juvia. I haven't seen fairy tail in a bit, but poor juvia. She's supposedly an extremely powerful wizard, who was always ignored and treated poorly because of her rain powers. I don't remember it completely but she basically causes rain everywhere she goes and has extremely useful and powerful water magicā€¦. until she joins fairy tail. Or, more specifically, until she meets Gray. Sometime during their fight (can't remember why) juvia fell head over he's for him and wanted to join fairy tail right after the battle between them and the guild she was part of was over. And she basically spends every second on screen talking about and fantasizing over gray. Who's not even interested in her! Their """"romance"""" has so much to talk about but regarding juvia there's also the aspect that she is supposed to be really extremely strong! She was one of the best bladers of her old guild! But then when she gets invited to be S Class in fairy tail? Oh she looses in the first round because God forbid Juvia have accomplishments of her own after meeting gray!!! It's not like juvia doesn't have any good moments, I really like her when she's no where near and not thinking about gray. But she almost always is. She turns into like the worst person whenever he's around its so weird she doesn't act like herself she's awful to any other girl who so much as looks in his directionā€¦. oh my God it's exhausting and the main reason I quit the show.
Oh and let's not forget we can compare her to gajeel here- he's also a very strong wizard, in the group of main characters, from the same guild as Juvia, has a romantic subplot, and gets invited to be S Class. Major difference: Gajeel isn't a woman. And for some strange unknowable reason (/s) hesā€¦ treated by the plot and written better than Juvia? Okay again it's been a hot minute since I've seen fairy tail but you remember all those problems I mentioned with Juvia above? Literally none of them apply to Gajeel. He doesn't spend all his time fawning over Levy, he's a strong mage and is ALLOWED TO BE no oh remember how gajeel was supposed to be strong well we forgor so were going to let him do One Cool Thing and then forget again, he actually makes it past round one of the S Class test and is hugely important in the Edolas arc. OH AND SPEAKING OF after that arc juvia finds out that edolas gray was obsessed with Edolas Juvia so she changed her hair style to match edo juvia in hopes gray will like her now because of her new hair style. It's not the worst thing ever but it gets on my nerves so fucking much.
Like I said I'm not exactly a fairy tail super-fan I literally forgot everything after the s class test thing and then some but I couldn't not add juvia propaganda.
Tumblr media
(something like this happens every other 5 minutes she's on screen)
2.) She started off as a really intimidating and cold looking antagonist in Phantom Lord arc, borderline creepy in some scenes even. She was one of the elemental four (She's a rain woman and does water magic) and an S-Class wizard in that guild (Highest rank), so you can tell off the bat that she's strong as hell- Up until we get a one on one fight scene involving her and Gray- Who she immediately swoons for for some reason. It isn't that bad of a fight I don't think, and the reason she got a crush on him was pretty sweet- His ice basically froze all of Juvia's rain water for a moment, allowing her to see and feel the clear sky and sun after years of being followed around by rain.
What ruins it is how after their fight, her crush on Gray just startsā€¦ Getting out of control. She started stalking him. Joined Fairy Tail, the guild he was in, and acted obsessive of him and started calling literally every other girl her 'Love Rival'. It isn't that bad during the first / earlier seasons, since at that point she was still recovering from being a bad guy and trying to prove to others that she wants to be allies with them (Like when she sacrificed herself for Cana during Battle of Fairy Tail arc, and when she cried after Lucy knocked her out after she got brainwashed and told her they were friends now) But eventually it really does just start becoming her one trait and gag. What doesn't help is that it got old pretty fast and it's creepy and Gray barely shows any interest in her either and frequently tells her he'd like it if she was less stalkery. Also she's gets more pushy. Literally!!! Even the women mentioned ABOVE who Juvia considered friends weren't safe from being called her Love Rival even when they state multiple times that they aren't interested in Gray (Lucy especially.) She'd go after every and all women who MAY be after her precious Gray without any STOPS. She used to have actual character and motivations!!! She used to get along with other girls, even if it was begrudgingly!! But now she's just Gray's accesory / just "Gray's About-To-Be Girlfriend" and it somehow got even worse in the sequel 100 Years Quest. She's a powerful wizard and it still shows but her only notable trait, motive, gag, connection, etc. Are related to her calling him "Gray-Sama" and harassing him. Let her fight without thinking of Gray for god's sake!!!
3.) Juvia, as a concept, is not so bad: it's a lonely, depressed woman with water powers she can't always control who gets a chance at being somewhere where people will provide the love and companionship she craved. NOW THE EXECUTION IS WHERE THE CREATOR FUCKED UP. Upon her introduction, she immediately develops a crush on Gray, one of the main characters and her original guild's enemy, which makes her not really want to fight him. Sounds kinda sexist but not particularly outstanding, right? Well, as soon as she stops being on the enemy side and joins the main guild, she is turned into a caricature by having her stalk her crush, obsessively worry about him even looking at other women, being hostile to said women and then, throughout the series, continuously doubling down on her romantic and sexual advances despite him constantly refusing and expressing both verbally and physically his discomfort. There are a handful of moments toward the beginning where she seems to have the bare minimum of depth and it looks like she can build a good connection with some female characters, but this is all abandoned and she becomes a wet piece of cardboard whose only personality trait is obsessively loving a guy and any dramatic or tense scenes revolve around what's happening to him. She becomes unbearable to watch and this is particularly frustrating when you consider that she's technically, according to her introduction, a rather strong mage and that her magic doesn't have any established limits. She turns her body into water!! She can change the weather!! She could technically do something like blood bending if Mashima weren't a coward!! She could do so much more but that is the extent of what the creator cares to show because he doesn't care about her beyond what he can get in terms of "comedy".

ROUND 1A, MATCH 3 OUT OF 8!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cause of Death & Propaganda Under the Cut:
Kaede Akamatsu
Cause of Death: Framed & Executed; Hanged
Propaganda:
At first she seems like the main protagonist (first girl protag of a main series game, yay!) Stuck in a death game, she was framed for murder and executed in order to give the REAL male protagonist Angst. Was killed cruelly and unjustly and replaced with a much less proactive and interesting character. Justice for Kaede.
Kaede Akamatsu is the first female protagonist of a mainline Danganronpa game! JK of course she's not! Her death in the first trial gives emo shy boy Shuichi Saihara the motivation he needs to become the *true* protagonist of the game! She has so much wasted potential as a protagonist... truly pain and misery on planet earth.
Kaede was the first female protagonist of the mainline Danganronpa games, and also the first protagonist with a notable talent! She was a very fun and interesting character who was taken away from us in the first trial, thus making the protagonist of the game another random detective boy. Her death is mostly used to fuel his story, and she quite literally had no reason to die. Her death was also extremely brutal, and it felt like the devs spitting in our face to make a character with such potential into a ā€œdead waifu.ā€
Akane Hyakuya
Cause of Death: Murdered by a Vampire
Propaganda:
[No Propaganda Submitted]
Kuina Shimotsuki
Cause of Death: Accident; Fell down the stairs
Propaganda:
she's a sword fighter! she wanted to be the best sword fighter in the world and was until she died the best in her class. while practicing with zoro she was giving him tips on how to improve (even before they become friends). she has a really cool sword (which zoro takes after she dies to "carry on her legacy" or something). we dont know anything else about her :)))))))))
Listen Oda normally writes the women characters well but this... this was not it. Other than giving Zoro motivation she doesn't really have much of a role in the main story and idk she could've had a more "honorable" death or something

Disproportionate Retribution Loser Poll Round 1 Side B:
Lamia's (Greek Mythology) Disproportionate Retribution:
"Lamia had an affair with Zeus, so Hera robbed Lamia of her children - either by kidnapping or killing them - and cursed Lamiaā€™s eyes to never shut."
Kaede Akamatsu's (Danganronpa) Disproportionate Retribution:
"(Danganronpa 3 spoilers) She supposedly committed murder. BUT she was put in a situation where if she didn't everyone would die. She also planned to kill the person who put them into the situation where she has to kill. She didn't even mean to my My innocent boy. The Worst Part. SHE DIDNT EVEN DO IT.
Punishment: The most painful death literally ever. OMG what the hell was that why did you do that TO SOMEONE WHO DID NOPT EVEN COMMIT MURDER. Sorry im still mad. Anyways the whole thing is pretty poorly written so it's not even tragic just aggravating."
"She failed at killing someone with her plan, so the mastermind framed her :( She is the person who deserved to be killed the least in all of Danganronpa"
"I realize it's too late for propaganda to help Kaede in the main tournament, but I did want to submit two points to consider for when she goes up in the loser's round (and hopefully can be added to her card. Well, maybe point 1 is too meta for this tourney but point two should be fine.)
(Danganronpa spoilers below)
1 - Why her punishment stings from a metatextual standpoint
As someone put it in the notes, Kaede's death was also a punishment to any player who wanted a female protagonist. After her status as the series' first mainline female player character was hyped up in advertising, she is executed as the murderer for the very first case, and even what little side content she has barely develops her character, instead mostly serving as ship tease with Shuichi, the true protagonist. In addition, the game's story has a bunch of meta twists that are very easy to read as player jabs, so Kaede's death feels more targeted in light of the game's overall tone.
2 - Her execution (CW FOR GRAPHIC BODY HORROR)
As punishment for a murder that she turned out not to have committed, she is executed first by being hung, and then while she is still suffocating, her body is used as a "finger" to play a mangled rendition of "Der Flohwalzer" on a giant piano (as she has the title of Ultimate Pianist, her execution is thus designed ironically) over the course of, if certain elements of the interface are believed, 8 hours, after which her body is crushed by the spiked piano lid, which may very well be what actually killed her."

Why I don't like the self-proclaimed-SHSL-Hope trope that Danganronpa has going on[SPOILERS]:
Something that Danganronpa does and that genuinely annoys me is the trope where someone from the killing game takes the role of SHSL Hope as a way of self-love[Naegi Makoto for THH, Komaeda Nagito for GD and K1-B0 for KH], so I decided to make a commentary on my dislike of it.
The main reason why I generally don't like it is because of the route it takes when it comes to the motive behind:
The problem that these characters have in common is their lack of self-worth that ultimately leads them into taking leadership as a form of giving themselves any kind of value.
It all started with Makoto that, unlike his counterparts, is given the suggestion of becoming SHSL Hope by Kirigiri Kyoko as she believes the reason why he came to Hope's Peak is to put an end to the SHSL Despair. The decision of taking on the title has it's roots from his first title of SHSL Luck which he was given after winning the lottery. His negative view of himself further develops as he finds himself 'surpassed' by his classmates as well as 'guilty of their deaths' [the Danganronpa 3 anime verifies this statement in the despair arc]. The true reason why he takes the title of SHSL Hope is to prove to himself that he is able to 'make up' for his classmates deaths[by taking full responsability of his class and all that happened during the killing game], rather then to bring everyone hope(which is still a motive of his, but in this case he is FORCED to show everyone hope).
In Nagito's case, the motives behind his actions are easy to point out. His self-hatred first occurs with the title of SHSL Luck[as both he and Naegi question the logic behind it, making both feel like frauds] as well as when we are presented with the fact that his life is expected to end in less than a year[stated in his FTE's]. This makes Nagito think that he is worthless and that he should be used by the others as a stepping stool, making him 'take the title' of SHSL Hope as a way of giving himself a reason to believe he is worthy of something.
With K1-B0 the lack of self-worth comes from his title of SHSL Robot, as he feels dehumanized, feeling which, unlike his counterparts[which would supress/agree with it], he tries to adress by helping the masses learn about 'robophobia'. In chapter 6 K1-B0 is willing to take on the burdens of SHSL Hope and destroy himself and the academy just so that he can feel as if he did something of worth, unlike the other chapters.
It is heart-breaking to see these characters in such a light, but I shall move forward and tell you who I think embodies the title of SHSL Hope best out of the three protagonists left: Hinata Hajime, Akamatsu Kaede, Saihara Shuichi.
In my opinion, Saihara Shuichi is the one that is able to seize the title, for I find him and Kamukura Izuru closest to a Yin-Yang relationship, their opposing tropes being united by their complementary personality types.
The reason why I think that the other two aren't able to reach the title is because of Kaede's selfish reasoning[forcing Shuichi into a promise he can't keep in a attempt to free everyone] and Hajime's intent of becoming SHSL Hope as a coping mechanism against self-hatred[same case as Makoto, Nagito and K1-B0].
After Kaede's death, Saihara takes on the role of a bledding heart hero, opposing to Kamukura's emotionless anti-hero status, in order to help everyone get out of the killing game. As Saihara tries to create the perfect path, Kamukura destroys in order to find it, Saihara's seemingly selfish act proving itself as selfless and Kamukura's seemingly selfless act proving itself as selfish. It is all a battle of Hope and Despair, a battle between a man from which everything was taken and a man to which everything was give, the one thing that Saihara is able to achieve and that Kamukura isn't being happiness.
Despite the differences, the two of them find common grounds, both being introverted men whose lives are purely controlled by the wishes of certain people close to them[Kaede and Junko]. Both are expected to take burdens too hard to carry and lead everyone to a brighter future, point from which their paths part, trying to reach for opposite ends of the spectrum untill they converge at the middle into the final answer: hope and despair have to coexist in equal amounts so that humanity can truly thrive.
In conclusion, I dislike this trope because of the fact that it doesn't evolve the characters in any way, only leaving them in a miserable light even if that isn't needed, which is proven by the(possible, but sadly not cannon) dynamic between Shuichi and Izuru.

Kaito Momota: Hogwarts AU
Tumblr media
Kaito Momota was a Half-Blood (Lycanthropy) wizard that was born on the 12th of April 1983 and started attending Hogwarts on the 1st of September 1994, being sorted into Gryffindor House.
He had a Blackthorn wand with a Phoenix Feather core.
His Patronus was a German Shepherd.
His favorite subject was Astronomy and his least favorite subject was Care of Magical Creatures.
Kaito is an energetic person with a passionate heart, who lives for dreams and romance, and tends to give somewhat dramatic encouraging speeches for others. He believes you need to take risks for the sake of your dreams and shouldn't limit yourself nor ever give up. Due to his clichƩd hot-blooded spirit and his document falsification he could pass the final exams, proving that he is smart. He harbors a dream and a great longing to go to space, and already considers himself a space legend. He often refers to himself as "The Luminary of the Stars" and talks about the Universe being on his side. Furthermore, he talks about being popular with women and children, and he thinks that his goatee gives him a "glamorous celebrity vibe".
Throughout his Hogwarts years, Kaito described himself as a passionate protagonist of his own story who would help the others to survive the killing game. He considers himself a hero type, and occasionally offers to make other people his "sidekicks". Because of that, Kaito always tries his best to unite the group, and he 'is very much a reliable older brother type of person. He is very loyal to his friends and always there in order to aid them, such as when Shuichi Saihara broke down after Kaede Akamatsu's death. He offered his help to regain his spirit by starting training routine during the nighttime and even made him his "sidekick". It is also because of this nature that he became a moral support to the other participants. According to Shuichi, Kaito has the ability to draw people to him, and he has been described as an interesting and amusing person. Kaito have shown interest in friendly and even romantic rivalry, though he is shown to feel conflicted about romantic feelings because he doesn't wish to be held back by anyone as his true longing is the space and the universe. He appears insecure about it, believing that there is no way the other person will feel the same. After Maki revealed her feelings for him, Kaito was relieved and believed in Maki that she can start to love herself if she is able to fall in love with someone like him. While he is excited to look at the dirty books in the library as he thinks it's something guys would normally do, there has also been a moment in which the conversation topic was girls and peeping, and he appeared to become completely distracted and forgot the original topic and instead begun to talk dramatically about man's passion for exploring unknown worlds, claiming it is true man's passion. His obliviousness to romance and sexual matters has also been shown in the way he didn't realize Maki's jealousy at all and appeared oblivious when the other students more or less jokingly talked about Shuichi being a masochist.
Interestingly, Kaito seems to be a good judge of character and can give correct advice at times. He is also shown to be easily angered by mindsets that contrast his own, and he stubbornly refuses to believe in them. He strongly hates Kokichi's lies and unwillingness to cooperate, and his anger often clouds his judgement. He also cannot empathize with Ryoma's suicidal way of thinking, considering him a sissy and a fool, as he believes there is always a reason to live even if just small things like good food or friends. He is also notably hot-headed in general, occasionally taking action without thinking and wanting to punch others if angered enough. He can also be quite forceful when offering his support to others. He also swears a lot, but this is downplayed around his teachers.
With his clichƩd passionate nature, Kaito possesses some slightly old-fashioned opinions, believing that men should be real men (often dramatically talking about "man's passion") and women should not use real weapons and are more suited to childcare (even telling this to Maki, who is an assassin.) Along with considering Ryoma a sissy for having suicidal thoughts, he doesn't like it whenever Gonta cries and apologizes because "men shouldn't apologize so much". At one point, during his third year, he calls Korekiyo Shinguji with the Japanese term "okama" for appearing effeminate, which is often used as a derogatory term for very effeminate gay men or crossdressers. However, Kaito himself also has trouble with weakness and appears to have a sort of complex for being the hero, not wanting to show his own weaknesses and troubles to his sidekicks even if it means lying to them as he wishes to come across as a strong figure they can lean on. He had a hard time admitting that even he can make mistakes and felt envious of Shuichi who used his detective skills to save everyone. He is also troubled by the students' situation and feels he cannot show such weakness in front of his sidekick. When Shuichi tried to reassure him that it's okay to be afraid sometimes, Kaito insists that it's not like him to make others worry. He feels embarrassed, believing he has failed his sidekick, and tells Shuichi that he wants to be left alone. Even when Shuichi agrees that it's not like him to show weakness and that he never backs down, Kaito is still bothered by it and Shuichi can tell he is hiding something even when he claims with a grin that he is motivated again. When Shuichi reminded Kaito that he is not just a sidekick but also a friend, and that Kaito can open up to his best friend, Kaito is silent for a moment and then thanks Shuichi with a smile and claims he is okay now. He claims all his doubts are gone now that he knows that Shuichi thinks of him like that.
Undoubtedly, Kaito's biggest flaw is his arbitrary complete trust in others, which is often misguided. He is sincere and believes in friendship no matter what, trusting who he wants to trust even against all evidence and logic. He believes Maki without questions despite evidence against her, with his only reason being "an official hunch from Kaito Momota, the Luminary of the Stars himself", causing other students to call him an idiot because of it. He hates to be called an idiot, claiming that it hurts his feelings. During the fourth investigation, he denied all the clear evidence that showed Gonta Gokuhara is the killer of Miu Iruma, which ended up making things worse and caused a major risk to everyone.
Kaito can also be slightly comical, sometimes having very over exaggerated expressions and reactions, and can easily come across as not that smart due to his beliefs and occasional silly behavior such as eating way too much food at one point due to feeling pumped up or him claiming he was the one who wore women's underwear in a desperate attempt to clear suspicion against him. His notable weakness is his massive fear of magical beasts, strongly disliking anything related to them and grabbing other people in horror during such situations. After Kaito and some of the other students enter an inn during their first Hogsmead trip, Kaito is shown to have horrible luck in gambling, which is something Kokichi makes fun of while Kaito seemed to completely lose his spirit and cried wondering how could The Luminary of the Stars lose so pathetically. He then made excuses such as claiming that his true skills are meant for the universe and not something like gambling, and pointed out that he had quit gambling earlier, even though he had just been playing. However, despite some of his comical traits, Kaito is actually very intelligent and talented in various ways as he has the highest grades in Astronomy than anyone else in his year.
It was revealed that before Tsumugi changed his memories while on their way to Hogwarts for their first year, Kaito was a psychopath who planned to step over others in order to gain money and honor, with the attitude he had after having his personality changed having a twisted meaning of "nothing is impossible after you're rich and famous enough". Though, it should be noted that it is left unclear whether or not this is true and it could have been a lie made by the mastermind, as pointed out by Shuichi.

Okay, lemme explain.
S Rank - Best of the Best
Magical Miracle Girl Usami - I. Love. Her. Like... I feel like if I were a magical girl, Iā€™d be Usami. I want to cosplay her. I just... I love her so much.
Nagito Komaeda - I mean... Heā€™s clearly neuro-divergent, heā€™s chronically ill, heā€™s basically chaotic neutral, and Iā€™ve loved him almost as long as Iā€™ve loved the series. What can I say?
Angie Yonaga- PRAISE BE TO ATUA. Sheā€™s a vibe. I want to be her friend.
Kokichi Oma - A perfect example of ā€œI initially hated him with every fiber of my being, but then he did a thing and now I like himā€.
Korekiyo Shinguji - Similar to Kokichi, but the incestuous thoughts kind of... eh...
A Rank - I love them, but...
Ibuki Mioda - They did her dirty, I swear.
Mikan Tsumiki - I may prefer more masc-presenting women, but I would date her.
Kotoko Utsugi - I will protect this brat for the rest of my life
Monophanie - I dunno. I just think sheā€™s neat. You knowā€¦ besides the incestuous stuffā€¦
Monomi - Monokuma did her dirty. Andā€¦ againā€¦ incestuous stuffā€¦
Aoi Asahina - I love her relationship with Sakura! But I also feel like she was justā€¦ token big boobs girlā€¦
Miu Iruma - I love the spin of having a super-perverted girl. But also kind of the token big boob girl.
Hajime Hinata - Of all the protags, he just seemed the most fleshed out. Also. Tig oā€™ bitties on a guy
Junko Enoshima - Fun design? Check. Interesting Personality? Check. Would wear similar clothes? Check.
Kaito Momota - I feel like weā€™d be best friends.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru - He and Mondo are the best homo ship in the series fight me
Mondo Owada - He and Kiyotaka are the best homo ship in this series fight me
Rantaro Amami - Heā€™s the midpoint between Nagito and Shun Kamiya from Tribe Nine and you canā€™t tell me heā€™s not
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu - Severely underrated. And he and Peko are the best canon relationship in the series fight me
Peko Pekoyama - At first I thought she was just meant to be a sexy Sakura, but I felt like she was super underestimated as a rival and a character. And she and Fuyuhiko are the best canon ship in the series fight me
Sonia Nevermind - First of all, her name. Secondly, I love that she was justā€¦ always 100% herself. Likeā€¦ she was a princess into horror shit. I dig that.
Sayaka Maizono - I kinda wish she was in the series longer. I just really liked her.
Mahiru Koizumi - Sheā€™s the mom friend and I love it.
Kaede Akamatsu - I wanted her to be the protag, is that so much to ask?
Gundham Tanaka - Heā€™s the type of person we all wish society would let us be; absolutely unhinged and in our own world.
Gonta Gokuhara - Best bean.
Chisa Yukizome - Ultimate Mom is best.
Monodam - I mean, he had everyoneā€™s best interest at heart.
Ruruka Ando - Excuse me, she makes sweets and sheā€™s cute.
Yuta Asahina - Good boi. Possible sister complex.
B Rank - I mean, theyā€™re good, butā€¦
Kirumi Tojo - I mostly like her because of her design and her execution.
Leon Kuwata - Not gonna lie, he was my first Danganronpa crush. Had I not read his Free Time events, I might have ranked him higher.
Maki Harukawa - At first I was thoroughly pissed off that she was the Ultimate Childcare Provider, but then her true identity came through and I liked her a lot more.
Chiaki Nanami - Sheā€™d be higher but I feel like the developers got tired part way through per backstory and just threw something together
Himiko Yumeno - She did the whole ā€œtoo much effortā€ schtick for too long.
K1-B0 - Underrated.
Sakura Ogami - Great character overall, but I feel like her design was justā€¦ 100% shock value.
Shuichi Saihara - Likeā€¦ Iā€™d be fine if the game started with him being the protagonist, but Iā€™m still kinda peeved that they just threw him in last minute.
Tenko Chabashira - Iā€™m sorry, misandry is not a personality trait or a quirk and the joke got old quick.
Tsumugi Shirogane - I hate her and everything having to do with the ending of this series.
Toko Fukawa - Why are people cool with her but not Miss Piggy? At least Kermit is into what Miss Piggy does.
Genocider Jack/Jill - Yandere.
Jataro Kemuri - Heā€™d be higher if it werenā€™t for his voice.
Hiroko Hagakure -Ā
Akane Owari - Token Big Boob Girl mixed with zero impulse control. But her and Nekomaru are cute together soā€¦
Celestia Ludenberg -Ā
Chihiro Fujisaki - Let our friend be happy, okay?
Nekomaru Nidai - He made me tired.
Izuru Kamukura - Heā€™s fine. Heā€™s mostly here because heā€™s in Hajimeā€™s body.
Masaru Daimon - Iā€™ve worked with children like him. Theyā€™re fun!
Monosuke - I like the mobster penny pincher persona that heā€™s got going on.
Monotaro - I liked him for 90% of the game. But then the incest stuff happened andā€¦ yeahā€¦
Shirokuma - I knew he was putting on a ruse from the beginning, but I enjoyed him
Taichi Fujisaki- WHAT A GOOD PARENT.
Kiyondo - I think I prefer them in separate bodies, but itā€™s a sweet sentiment and anā€¦ interesting way to cope.
C Rank - Theyā€™re Fine
In C Rank, if I donā€™t mention them by name, itā€™s just ā€œtheyā€™re fineā€.
Kyoka Kirigiri - I wish we knew more. Likeā€¦ she seems very two dimensional
Mukuro Ikusaba - Iā€™m glad we had some time with her in the animeā€¦ but it wasnā€™t enough. More please!
Haiji Towa - The only reason he isnā€™t lower is that he got his comeuppance
Koichi Kazakura - Thatā€™s blond Johnny Depp and you canā€™t say heā€™s not.
Monokuma - I actually threw him in C because I didnā€™t know where else to throw him. I actually donā€™t have a lot of feelings about him as a character.
D Rank - Either I hate them or I donā€™t know them
Iā€™m only elaborating on some.
Teruteru Hanamura - Perverted characters that are just there to be perverted are annoying.
Monokid - I absolutely hate that he represents the percentage of people that shit in the shower. Likeā€¦ Iā€™m so glad he died first. I hate him so much.

Hajime, Shuichi, and Kaede finding their S/O self harming
Warnings: Self harm, gender neutral
Mod Ibuki: Enjoy! Hope you're okay!
Hajime Hinata:
Hajime was beyond confused. He had zero idea what to do. He didn't know whether to run and get a first aid kit, hug you, or get someone more experienced.
He finally decided to give you a hug first. A tight, careful hug. He didnā€™t wanna hurt you anymore than you already were but he needed to know that you are there and alive and your heart is beating.
ā€œWhy.ā€
That was all he asked. Just why. When you told him, he lost it. He wasnā€™t angry but he raised his voice. He was just scared, so scared of losing you.
ā€œThatā€™s not true! Not remotely! Why would you think that!?ā€
When Hajime saw your reaction to his yelling he immediately toned it down and apologized, hugging you again and comforting you after his little outburst. This is what happens when heā€™s scared, and he knows heā€™s got to fix it. He feels bad because he lost it for a second when you least needed it.
After comforting you for a bit, he grabbed a first aid kit and began bandaging you up. Mikan taught everyone first aid basics, so he kinda knew what he was doing. Enough to patch you up and make sure your wounds are clean.
Afterwards, he got a blanket and wrapped you and him in it. On the bathroom floor. He wanted to talk. Almost like a therapy session. He wanted you to vent for as long as you needed to. Just get everything out, you know?
ā€œI want you to know I love and care for you. I hate seeing you hurt and this broke me. I love you too much to stand by and watch you suffer. So please come to me from now on. Iā€™m here for you.ā€
Shuichi Saihara:
Shuichi cried as soon as he saw you. He ran straight for you and held you, petting your hair and sobbing. He was always so sensitive to death and injury, seeing it on his lover made him instantly break down.
ā€œB-Babyā€¦why honey why.ā€ ā€œI-Iā€™m hurting, Shu.ā€ ā€œI know baby, Iā€™m s-so sorry.ā€
After a long hug he got a first aid kit and began wrapping your wounds, making sure they were clean and wonā€™t get infected. Tears were still falling down his cheeks, one landing on the bandage. When he saw the tear stain, it made him start sobbing all over again. Luckily, he was almost done, so he finished quickly and hugged you close again.
Shuichi asked you to talk to him. Tell him everything youā€™ve been feeling. Why you did this, what led to it, etc. It was almost like an interview. He just cares so much, he needs to know everything that was going through your head so he can piece together how to help you.
Once you told him how you were really feeling, everything hit him hard. So thatā€™s why youā€™ve been a bit off. Maybe if he said something this wouldnā€™t have happened. Maybe if he gave you a hug that day in the restaurant. Maybe if he-
No, he needs to stop overthinking. This is about you. You need him right now.
ā€œBaby, I promise you. You arenā€™t a burden, or a negative person. You are the light of my life. You make me so happy. You make the world a brighter place for me. So please, hold on for me.ā€
Kaede Akamatsu:
Kaede froze. She needed to process what was going on in front of her. It didnā€™t hit her that you, her love, had hurt themselves purposely.
ā€œMy loveā€¦?ā€
Her voice was barely above a whisper. It was when you shakily lifted your arms for a hug that she snapped out of it and ran to hold you. She hummed and rocked you back and forth while you cried, calming you down.
Kaede didnā€™t wanna pull away, but she had to clean your wounds. She slowly backed up and reached for a first aid kit to begin patching you up. She didnā€™t know anything about first aid, so you and her watched a Youtube video on how to properly patch someone up while she followed along. When she finished, she wanted you to talk to her about what happened. What caused this pain?
ā€œWhat happened, honey? Please tell me.ā€
While Kaede was rocking you, you were stumbling on your words and venting to her. But she understood. She caught what you were saying and the parts she didnā€™t, she didnā€™t ask for you to repeat. She knew this was hard enough as is, you didnā€™t need any more stress.
She was frowning into your shoulder when you finished. You really felt like thatā€¦? Kaede didnā€™t know what to say except positive things. About you. Your looks. Your shining personality. How wonderful you treated her.
ā€œI promise you! You are amazing, baby! No really! You are! Youā€™re my sunshineee, my only sunshineee, you make me happyyyy, when skies are greyyyy. Hehe, youā€™re a beautiful person lovey. I love you.

Sheā€™s interesting and feels fleshed out and despite dying early on, she haunts the narrative so strongly that she was one of my favorite characters for the whole game AND sheā€™s vital to the climax of the story. All that saidā€¦
Kaede was marketed as the protagonist of the game, making her the first female protagonist in the main DR series (thereā€™s a female protag in a spin-off but the two other games in the main series both had male protags). You start the game and you immediately notice she has a stronger personality than either of the male protags from the previous games, who, while I like them, tend to be the normal ones in an otherwise colorful cast. She felt like a break from the usual protag mold and we even got to have a male secondary character this time who relied on her for support. But. She isnā€™t the protag. The guy I just mentioned is. You find out mid-trial 1 that Kaede is (sorta unintentionally) the killer and you switch control to the guy character and Kaede then dies at the end of the trial. As far as a plot goes, this was really really cool and well-executed, but it also means the game intentionally decided to pull a bait-and-switch where they advertised the ā€œfirst female protag of the series!ā€ only to kill her off early on and reveal the true protag was actually a guy who, once again is a character I like, but is much more similar to the previous two protags than Kaede was. There was literally no reason they had to put a female character as the false protag here, as the twist wouldā€™ve worked equally well or maybe even more if they revealed a typical male protag character was the killer and instead switched to a female protag for the rest of the game.
KAMALA KHAN (MARVEL COMICS) (CW: Racism)
1.) One of the most prominent brown women in all of comics, beloved by the fan base. Recently killed in a PETER PARKER SPIDERMAN COMIC (despite being much closer with Miles Morales and having basically no relationship with Peter) in whatā€™s probably the name of MCU synergy, which nobody wanted (sheā€™ll probably be resurrected as a mutant, erasing her unique and interesting history as an Inhuman). She was using her shapeshifting powers again despite having stopped in her solo as she got more confident in her own skin and identity as a Pakistani American girl, died disguised as the very white Mary Jane as a fake out/last minute replacement for killing off MJ. I fucking hate it here. A cheap trick to drive sales. L + Misogyny + racism + are you fucking kidding me

Super Danganronpa Another 2, character tier ranking:
S Tier (I adore them) - Sora, Yoruko Kabuya, Mikado Sannoji, Kanade Otonokoji and Hibiki Otonokoji.
Sora is much more than just a gender-swapped Hajime Hinata or a compensation for the shafting Kaede Akamatsu got, she might just be the coolest, most driven, and most enjoyable main protagonist in any Danganronpa game, fan-made or official. Yorukoā€™s character development throughout the game was excellent, and her romantic relationship with Sora just beyond precious. Mikado, as the self-admitted mastermind in plain sight, is just all kinds of entertaining and way more efficient a villain and fully realized a character than some of the official canon antagonists. And the Otonokoji Twins strike an unthinkable balance of being very fun and endearing yet also some of THE most hauntingly disturbing and soul-crushingly tragic figures in Danganronpa history (if you played or seen it, you get it.)
A Tier (I love them) - Syobai Hashimoto, Iroha Nijiue, Nikei Yomiuri, and Yuki Maeda.
Syobaiā€™s kind of like this gameā€™s Byakuya Togami except that he takes that a step further by being an even more shamelessly awful human being who never becomes a true good guy of any sort even after all heā€™s done to help. Iroha can get a little too pitiful at points but is a very sympathetic and lovable character all the same. Nikei was a very effective antagonist and one of the gameā€™s darkest and most intriguing characters the whole way through. And Yuki is sort of like Makoto Naegi but with the huge difference that he actually feels realistic, which serves to make him so much more interesting.
B Tier (I like them) - Monocrow, Utsuro, Shinji Kasai, Hajime Makunouchi, Setsuka Chiebukuro, and Emma Magorobi.
I know the whole point of Monocrow is that heā€™s low-key, bland and nonthreatening compared to Monokuma, but I just really like this poor birb - the constant disrespect and mistreatment he gets endears him to me. Utsuro was already the best part of Danganronpa Another, but in this game he got even better by having a Greater Scope Villain presence that completely spares us anymore Junko Enoshima bullshit! Shinji is a way better Big Bro than Kaito in V3, and Setsukaā€™s a great Big Sis character as well. And the first two Voids, while not as developed as the other two and Mikado, are still fine characters too.
C Tier (I think theyā€™re OK) - Yuri Kagarin, Kokoro Mitsume, and Teruya Otori.
Yuri could be amusing but he also wore out his welcome pretty fast, and I think suddenly giving him such huge posthumous significance towards the end was unearned. Kokoro was alright for the most part, but sheā€™s also the character who suffered the most from Linujā€™s insistence on tying characters to the cast of his previous game. Teruya is also OK, but largely a different character from the Teruya of DRA, is very plot devicey due to his connection to the Kisaragi Foundation, and his role in Chapter 4 lost him a ton of respect points.
D Tier (I donā€™t care for them) - Rei Mekaru and Tsurugi Kinjou.
The Kisaragi Foundation was a lame Future Foundation ripoff concept to start with, and in this game itā€™s easily the link to the previous game that is handled the worst. The moment they enter the picture in Case 6, things just come to a grinding halt, and Iā€™m sorry, but Rei and Tsurugi are both characters I do not give a fuck about.

Disproportionate Retribution Loser Poll Round 2 Side B:
Stanley Pines' (Gravity Falls) Disproportionate Retribution:
"He broke his brother's science project that might have gotten his brother, Stanford, into his dream school by accident as a teen.
So he was thrown out of the house by his father and was only allowed to come back if he made them millions. He was homeless because of this, living out of his car.
There is no implication that any of his family ever tried to reach out to him afterward. His brother still excelled at another university he went to. It was only really about the money for his father.
When his nephew and niece (another brother's grandkids) come visit him, he is pretending to be his brother (long story) and they don't even know of Stanley's existence. They only know about their gruncle Stanford. Nobody in the family seems to talk about him. All of this because of a science project."

1 Thing I Love & 1 Thing I Hate About EVERY Danganronpa Character Part 1
Part 2
SPOILERS FOR ALL THREE MAIN GAMES
Iā€™d love to hear our opinions as well in the comments or my inbox or DMā€™s! If you try this trend with DR characters, tag me!
Tumblr media
Sayaka Maizono
ā™” Her passion for her career and friends.
āœ˜ The way she tries to screw over Makoto when the game hadĀ just begun. Like wait and see what happens before screwing over such a great guy? Leon didnā€™t deserve it either.
Leon Kuwata
ā™” His voice actor (English), and how real and human his execution was in that we all would be so scared and irrational. It was just so iconic and sad as itā€™s our first introduction to the death in this series and we all think: ā€œshit, this is real... they are really killing these kids.ā€ I didnā€™t think it would be that brutal, just seeing his body limp at the end with the haunting music.
āœ˜Ā His design is disgusting. I hate how he looks.
Chihiro Fujisaki
ā™” So innocent, so kind, so intelligent
āœ˜Ā Shouldnā€™t have been killed for such a stupid reason, also they did Mondo dirty with that motive for killing as well. Just a mess. As for the actual character, Chihiro cries right off the bat when you do your introductions and that was kind of annoying to me personally.
Mondo Oowada
ā™” He has a lot of respect, understanding and emotions for someone I thought would be a hard-ass douche biker.
āœ˜Ā The worst motive to kill ever in a game where you know youā€™re getting executed if youā€™re found out. Like youā€™d be extra careful and thatā€™s his reason to kill? Lazy writing.
Celestia Ludenberg
ā™” Bad bitch energy and her goth lolita design.
āœ˜Ā Manipulation and double murder. Bad bitch energy only goes so far. Confidence is different then selfishness. Also, of all the chapter 3 triple murders... the worst motive to kill.
Kiyotaka Ishimaru
ā™” Emotions: secure in his masculinity, able to cry, show emotions, and apologize when heā€™s wrong. Heā€™s funny and likable.
āœ˜Ā The Ishimondo white hair thing was stupid. Taka was fine on his own.
Hifumi Yamada
ā™” Writing takes talent, fan fiction as much as any other style or genre. Also the talent of his voice actor (who also voices Kiibo/K1-B0).
āœ˜Ā Literally everything else about him.
Sakura Oogami
ā™” I love everything about her. I love her wisdom, loyalty, design, voice etc. Just step on me, mother.
āœ˜Ā Why the hell would she ever agree to be a spy even if it meant the end of her dojo? I just donā€™t think she would do that rationally because she isnā€™t selfish. The others would suffer for her spying. She remedies this with redemption in her letter in chapter 4 but still she shouldā€™ve said no off the bat. Everyone had something to lose. The dojo wasnā€™t worth spying for monokuma. Also I just donā€™t think she would commit suicide. She canā€™t help the remaining students survive and redeem herself truly if sheā€™s dead.
Kyoko Kirigiri
ā™” Bad bitch energy, calm and collected when I could never be.
āœ˜Ā Especially in future arc of the anime, damn can you show some emotion please? Through your words and expressions not just your actions. Sure she was willing to ā€œdieā€ for Makoto but like I just want more emotion from her sometimes, even in THH.
Makoto Naegi
ā™” So pure. I Love Bryce Papenbrook. Makoto reminds me of Sora and I love his design.
āœ˜Ā In THH I didnā€™t mind his innocence but in the Danganronpa 3 future arc anime, when people started straight up abusing him and accusing him, he needed to grow a little backbone.
Byakuya Togami
ā™” Love my dad, king shit, also love how over the progression of the games and animes he becomes a little more kind to his friends.
āœ˜Ā Why the fuck did he mess with Chihiroā€™s body? Just so cruel and disrespectful.
Yasuhiro Hagakure
ā™” Funny magic man. Sexy voice.
āœ˜Ā Please. Please Hiro use your brain just once. Why do we have to prove Kyoko isnā€™t a ghost?!
Toko Fukawa
ā™” Character development in UDG and I love Genocider.
āœ˜Ā Putting down herself and others constantly gets old in THH.
Aoi Asahina
ā™” Love her voice actress and her personality
āœ˜Ā We really just gonna get everyone killed in chapter 4 huh? Surely you know they donā€™t all deserve that.
Junko Enoshima
ā™” A very memorable villain with great hair and design.
āœ˜Ā I just canā€™t stand her. I hate her so much.
Mukuro Ikusaba
ā™” Her mercenary background is super cool as a concept.
āœ˜Ā Too bad it wasnā€™t explored nearly enough.
Hajime Hinata
ā™” Seeing the protagonist be a little less naive, innocent and positive than Makoto was a refreshing change, although I loved Makoto. I liked Hajimeā€™s cynicism and expressions that sometimes just screamed ā€œthis shit again, huh?ā€
āœ˜Ā I enjoy the way Izuru looks but I hate him as a character. He is sexy to look at but Hajime is just a better character overall
Teruteru Hanamura
ā™” His love for his family and mother especially is so cute and heart breaking if you know the full story.
āœ˜Ā He needs to know when to dial it back and quit with the perversions. And no itā€™s not just how he looks, Miu needs to chill at times, too.
Twogami
ā™” I feel like he genuinely cares about his friends, just hides it well
āœ˜Ā His death felt like a cop out and poorly written. It just didnā€™t sit right with me. Also his design is disgusting to me, his outfit and such.
Mahiru Koizumi
ā™” Loyal to her close friends.
āœ˜Ā I just have no interest in her as a character and I find her boring.
Peko Pekoyama
ā™” Loyalty. Loyalty is something I value very highly in every form of relationship. Peko is also very hot.
āœ˜Ā Come on girl... I know how you were raised but you shouldā€™ve known Fuyuhiko didnā€™t think of you as just a tool and you two shouldā€™ve expressed your true feelings long ago. Like even in secret. How do you live like this? Also I feel like killing Mahiru couldā€™ve been avoided with a calm talk.
Ibuki Mioda
ā™” Cute design, positive vibes.
āœ˜Ā Cringe sometimes in the way she talks.
Hiyoko Saionji
ā™” Beautiful character design and some very good insults and snarky remarks at times.
āœ˜Ā Just irredeemably mean and annoying. Even when you do her free time events she is just so annoying.
Mikan Tsumiki
ā™” I like her design as well as her hair, expressions, sprites and clothing.
āœ˜Ā I hate her. I just hate her whether sheā€™s in her true psycho form or timid stuttering form. Sheā€™s just annoying in my opinion.
Nekomaru Nidai
ā™” So supportive, can hold my drink at a party. Respects everyone and wants the best for them.
āœ˜Ā Bro Mechamaru was a stupid plot point. I just couldnā€™t stand looking at him and couldnā€™t take it seriously. Still sad when he died though.
Chiaki Nanami
ā™” From chapter 5 of sdr2 on she is impossible not to love if you didnā€™t already. Just the selflessness, the sadness of the reveal and execution, how she returns to help Hajime at the end???? I love her. I love her hair design, color palette, her personality, everything.
āœ˜Ā Iā€™m bitter and miserable about her being the only class member to actually die (the despair arc anime) also her falling asleep at random times is kind of odd and she doesnā€™t seem to be like that later on in the game??? Like it seemed like a cheap joke but not actually who she is? Hard for me to explain.
Gundham Tanaka
ā™” King shit, couldnā€™t praise him enough. Heā€™s sexy, loves animals, and is funny as hell sometimes. His voice actor is a saint and a cool dude and I named my guinea pigs after the Dark Devas (yes I know they are hamsters in the games.)
āœ˜Ā Come on dude. I get that being from Hell and magic and having evil powers is your shtick, but we all know that you and Nekomaru sacrificed yourselves so the others wouldnā€™t starve. We know you care about your classmates. There comes a time when itā€™s time to let personas and facades fade and be true to your heart. I just feel like him denying he cared at the end hurt. We all know he cared. I didnā€™t like how he was haughty until the end. He deserved better. I love him.
Nagito Komaeda
ā™” I love him so much. So cunning and intelligent, always a step ahead. And heā€™s big sexy.
āœ˜Ā Him killing himself in chapter 5 hurt me so bad I was like in denial for days. Also hate how Bryce Papenbrook gives him a raspy stoner psycho voice in the game then a light airy higher-pitched voice in the despair arc anime. It just bothers me. I love his voice still but the inconsistency just hurts my OCD
Sonia Nevermind
ā™” I love that sheā€™s so interested in her passions and love her feelings for Gundham
āœ˜Ā Her outfit and bow are atrocious. Also why didnā€™t she start liking and talking to Gundham sooner on? Their romance bloomed late and it wouldā€™ve made for a better chapter 4 ending if they were a bit closer.
Kazuichi Souda
ā™” Cool design and outfit, love his voice (also voices Kaito in V3) and his backstory is relatable at times. Heā€™s also very human in that heā€™s scared a lot of the time or insecure or blames others in panicked situations. Itā€™s not always a good thing but itā€™s human and realistic.
āœ˜Ā Gosh he can be so annoying. Sometimes flirting or whining too much is well... too much.
Akane Owari
ā™” Strong-willed and definitely someone I would be friends with
āœ˜Ā What the hell is her outfit? Gymnasts and athletes donā€™t wear that shit. Stop objectifying her when it doesnā€™t even make the product or plot better. Like thereā€™s absolutely no point to making her dress that way. I was a gymnast for 15 years. Even those who do parkour (which Akane seems to do more often than actual gymnastics in the anime and game) donā€™t wear what she wears. Also sheā€™s underrated.
Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu
ā™” I love him. Heā€™s the DR character Iā€™m most like out of all the games and anime. Tenko is a close second. I think heā€™s adorable, love his character arc, development, redemption, and love his voice.
āœ˜Ā In the anime/despair arc, Fuyuhiko is not done justice. He doesnā€™t get enough lines, has a different voice actor, just doesnā€™t give off the same vibes.
Izuru Kamakura
ā™” Sexy man long hair good.
āœ˜Ā Boring character. I wish he were just Hajime.
Kaede Akamatsu
ā™” Loyalty and leadership are such attractive qualities in her. Also she faced her death with such class and dignity and I respect her because I could never.
āœ˜Ā Some of the voice lines Erika does for her are just weird and cringe. Just random moans or grunts... I donā€™t know itā€™s like when Ann Takamaki from Persona 5 (also voiced by Erika) makes suggestive noises as well. Just grinds my gears. Also hate her outfit down to the hair pins.
Shuichi Saihara
ā™” I love his nasally voice. I love his design and heā€™s so adorable. I love how emotional and compassionate he can be. He ties with Makoto for favorite protag of mine.
āœ˜Ā That sprite where he sniffs his hand. And his ugly ass hat.
Rantarou Amami
ā™” Sexy man, sexy voice, sexy piercings
āœ˜ Ugly outfit, and wasted potential
Ryoma Hoshi
ā™” I respect him and feel bad for his outlook on life and for how poorly he views himself. I love his little hat as well and heā€™s the first ā€œdifferent styledā€ character (Hifumi, Bandai, Teruteru) that I liked the design of.
āœ˜Ā I hate when he says ā€œgot a long ways to go,ā€ itā€™s overused and annoying, and wish he gave himself more credit. Also hate that when you first meet him he warns you that heā€™s killed people and is dangerous to be around. Come on buddy, you know you wouldnā€™t hurt your friends. Stop pushing them away.
Kirumi Tojo
ā™” Competence, well rounded, skillful
āœ˜Ā Boring as hell. I wouldnā€™t waste one free time event on her.
Angie Yonaga
ā™” Dark skin, super cute, love her talent as an artist myself.
āœ˜Ā Gives religious people a bad name and is super manipulative which I hate.
Tenko Chabashira
ā™” I relate to her and feel bad when sheā€™s misunderstood. Sheā€™s a good person deep down. Also love her sprites.
āœ˜Ā Thereā€™s more cunning, funny and clever ways to write her digs at men.
Korekiyo Shunguuji
ā™” Iā€™m in love with this man. Long hair, voice, mystery, mask, intelligence, passion, talent.
āœ˜Ā He definitely was a victim of abuse and a lot of people refuse to see that and just hate him. Team Danganronpa shouldā€™ve given him a redemption arc where he realized his sister abused him and changed.
Gonta Gokuhara
ā™” I love his design except for his suit. Also heā€™s so cute and naive. I cried for his trail.
āœ˜Ā No need talk like caveman. Better way to do this.
Kokichi Ouma
ā™” Like Nagito, I value his intelligence and crazy cunning.
āœ˜Ā Shouldn't have died. Also shouldnā€™t have manipulated Gonta. That was just cruel.
Miu Iruma
ā™” She has her hilarious moments and her death surprised me and was sad.
āœ˜Ā Sometimes she lacks basic empathy, i.e. calling TenkoĀ ā€œTencrotchā€ when she just fucking died.
Maki Harukawa
ā™” Amazing character development. Didnā€™t see her surviving until the end at the start. Also her love and passion for Kaito.
āœ˜Ā ā€œDo you wanna die?ā€ gets old.
Kaito Momota
ā™” Just the overall best bro you could ever have.
āœ˜Ā Has some toxic masculinity issues and anger issues.
K1-B0
ā™” Pretty much everything about him. His design, his attitude and personality, especially how amazing and cool he is chapter 5 onward, his execution made me so sad. Heā€™s so innocent and funny without trying.
āœ˜Ā When you do his free time events heā€™s very arrogant and just talks about himself a lot... it seems odd and not similar to the Kiibo we see throughout the game.
Himiko Yumeno
ā™” Super cute design, love her voice andĀ ā€œNyeh...ā€ and her sprites. Her character development is great as well.
āœ˜Ā Why did they take so long to make her important and likable?
Tsumugi Shirogane
ā™” An excellent and well hidden reveal
āœ˜Ā I hate her. So annoying, from the voice to the references and her personality.

MAJOR SPOILERS FOR DANGANRONPA V3 (and probably the other games, too, just to be safe)
So, just as a heads up, I made this list a few months ago, I think in the middle of chapter 4. I was going to update it, but I realized that any feelings I had were just made stronger and the list was still relatively accurate. Here are my thoughts:
I see no god up here other than me
Kirumi Tojo - As you may know about me, I can typically tell who my favorite characters are going to be before I indulge myself in a series. This has especially rung true throughout Danganronpa, I was able to correctly guess Taka and Gundham as my respective favorites before actually seeing them in action. Let me tell you that Kirumi surprised me. I originally guessed K1-B0 as my favorite and while heā€™s still up there, he is nowhere near Kirumi. I realized she was my favorite the moment chapter 2 ended. Not only were her execution and plan wonderful and brilliantly done, her last-ditch plea to convince everyone to let her live sold her for me. Not only did this plea make sense, it almost worked and I kinda wish it wouldā€™ve. Her motive was almost completely selfless and she worked damn hard to escape. Her execution was the only time I cried during this game because I wanted so badly for her to escape, but I knew that all of her efforts were futile. I know her biggest criticism is that her plan from hiding Ryomaā€™s body was completely unnecessary, but I like to believe she was just nervous and overthought the whole thing. I mean, this had to go perfectly in order for her to save her country, of course sheā€™s going to add a few too many steps.
Miu IrumaĀ - Okay, I know this is going to sound fake, but I actually really love the dichotomy of her character. The way that she acts so self-righteous but is actually quite self-conscious really stood out to me. Of course sheā€™s funny and hot, too, but I feel itā€™s important to really appreciate the way her character was written. It amazes me that she was written to be the least likable character in the entire series and still ended up being one of my favorites.
Youā€™re the best
K1-B0Ā - Yes, I type out his name every time. As I already mentioned, he was my original guess for favorite character, but it obviously didnā€™t work out that way. He stayed in his position of first for a while, but I always knew it wasnā€™t meant to last, I just didnā€™t know which character would take his place. Even besides my doubts, I still love K1-B0, I just wish more couldā€™ve been done with him in the earlier chapters. There are several opportunities for him to be a really funny character and have good interactions with Kokichi and Miu, but he just comes off as annoying. I feel like he only really started to be utilized after Miu died with Monotaro and I really enjoyed their dynamic, I just wish we couldā€™ve had some of this side of K1-B0 before this point.
Kokichi OmaĀ - This spot probably isnā€™t as subjective as Iā€™d like it to be. Every time Kokichi was on screen, I would get visibly annoyed, but I knew I was in for a treat figuring out his deeper intents behind what heā€™s saying. The only reason I really like Kokichi at all is because heā€™s fun to analyze. It gets boring to analyze Nagito because his motivation is pretty much just a mix ofĀ ā€œhopeā€ andĀ ā€œheā€™s crazy.ā€ Kokichiā€™s character trait of lying makes it so fun to individually analyze each of his lines to figure out whether heā€™s telling the truth and why or why not. Other than that, I guess he has some funny dialogue with Miu sometimes.
Gonta GokuharaĀ - I really donā€™t know. I know this is way too early to be unsure about characters, but I just know I couldnā€™t put him any lower, but I also couldnā€™t put him any higher. Heā€™s just such a sweetheart, but thatā€™s about where the substance ends. I adored every time he was on my screen, but everything that wouldā€™ve been fun to analyze about him just leads back to Kokichi. I still really enjoy his presence, though. Iā€™d like a big Gonta hug.
Kaede AkamatsuĀ - Iā€™ll just say it, I think she wouldā€™ve made for a better protagonist. Iā€™ll talk about this later, but Shuichiā€™s character development doesnā€™t really feel like it goes anywhere and the twist doesnā€™t feel worth it because of that. I think the twist should still have been incorporated, but with the roles reversed. Either way, we got what we got, and what we got was tears from Clair de Lune. But seriously, she really is a great pianist. Iā€™ve been trying to learn the piece for ages and itā€™s still too complicated for me. I mean, itā€™s in 9/8 for Godā€™s sake. Good for her, regardless.
Tenko ChabashiraĀ - Tenkoā€™s a weird case. I didnā€™t actually care for her that much until quite literally a few lines before she died. Fun fact: I spoiled this entire series for myself before I ended up playing it and Iā€™m still mad at myself. This meant that I was just waiting for all of the deaths to happen, especially Tenkoā€™s. I was fully aware that every line could be her last during the seance, but I wasnā€™t aware that she would pull on my heart strings before she went. When she tells Himiko that sheā€™ll do the seance in her place so she can talk to Angie, I literally almost started crying. Before this, Tenko was just kind of annoying, but not too bad, but this moment really solidified her spot for me. She really just wanted to help Himiko and I wish she had chosen a better target for her affections.
Hey, I think youā€™re pretty cool, I like you a lot
Shuichi SaiharaĀ - Time to elaborate on what I said for Kaede. I actually really enjoyed Shuichiā€™s character development throughout the first three chapters. Before coming to Hopeā€™s Peak, he was afraid to hurt people with his detective skills. Kaede notices this and helps him through it, passing the reins to Kaito once she passes. Shuichi convicts Kaede and later Kirumi, much to everyoneā€™s detriment, but theyā€™re all okay with it (Nobody was really super sad about Korekiyo to begin with, lol). Then, starting in chapter 4, everyone just kinda flips on him. Shuichi + the rest of the gang - Kokichi all believe that Gonta is innocent and Shuichi tries to prove this. Instead of supporting him, everyone (especially Kaito) tries to... stop him??? from proving it??? Theyā€™re all just in agreement that it wasnā€™t Gonta, but donā€™t want to proceed with the investigation to figure out who it was instead. Itā€™s really frustrating and made my overall experience much less enjoyable. This is bumped up a few notches in chapter 5 with Maki. I understand that she was part of the whole case, but that doesnā€™t make it any less annoying that she wonā€™t let me prove Kaito was the victim. It just feels like the character development was all for nothing and every student feels like a human obstacle (except K1-B0, of course). Still relatable and emo, though.
Rantaro AmamiĀ - I would make the joke everyone expects, but Iā€™m on my laptop and I donā€™t know how to get to the emoji keyboard.
Ryoma HoshiĀ - I genuinely donā€™t have anything to say about Ryoma. Heā€™s my halfway point because I donā€™t have anything particularly for him and I donā€™t have anything particularly against him, either. Go off, funky little cat man.
Kaito MomotaĀ - He got on my nerves in chapter 4, but he was a genuinely sweet character that I really enjoyed talking to. Any time he would talk about the stars, I would swoon because heā€™s just such a natural romantic. Not really my type, though. Very average.
MonophanieĀ - Legally you canā€™t ask me why the monokubs are where they are. Sheā€™s voiced by Natalie Hoover (Sonia) and I guess thatā€™s my only reasoning.
MonotaroĀ - I really just liked his interactions with K1-B0 in chapter 4. Other than that, I greatly disliked his and Monophanieā€™s presence in Gontaā€™s execution. 0/10 worst use for monokubs.
MonodamĀ - A nice, non-distracting addition to Korekiyoā€™s execution. But he had so much potential and just threw it all away. Apparently Iā€™m a basketball dad from a high school movie now.
I remember you
Angie YonagaĀ - Many times, Iā€™ve found myself asking who I ship from the series and this love triangle comes to mind. Of Angie, Himiko, and Tenko... I only really like Tenko. I donā€™t hate Angieā€™s cult stuff as much as everyone else seems to, but she didnā€™t have nearly enough of a presence for me to latch onto outside of the cult stuff, which was funny, I will admit.
Maki HarukawaĀ - I was so excited the whole game for her to get cool. I knew she was going to get cool, I just didnā€™t know when or how. But then, it was chapter 5 already and she hadnā€™t gotten cool in my eyes yet. I was really meh on her by that chapter anyway, but her being annoying really knocked her down a few pegs. She got a couple extra points for surprising me during the case, but not enough to bump her up any spots.
Himiko YumenoĀ - I was rooting for her to be crushed under the rock at the end. She was fine before chapter 3, but then they tried to develop her with the Akane treatment and it didnā€™t work for me at all. She just got on my nerves during the third trial and continued to contribute nothing throughout the rest of the game. During chapter 5 and 6, itā€™s like the writers just completely forgot that she was there. This wouldā€™ve been fine if they werenā€™t the last couple of chapters and she was one of about 6 people left alive. She had a role to play and didnā€™t play it in the slightest. The most she was utilized after chapter 3 was as Miuā€™s replacement post-chapter 5. Someone needed to fill the dirty jokes quota and I guess Himiko was chosen. #GiveTenkoABetterLoveInterest2021
MonosukeĀ - The only thing I remember him doing throughout the entire game was distract me from Kirumiā€™s exectuion. Not a fan.
You are the worst. Literal scum. Leave this planet and never return
Korekiyo Shinguji - Okay, listen. Heā€™s not that bad. His design is actually one of the best, in my opinion and I love his dedication to his craft. However, he just creeps me out whenever heā€™s on screen and Iā€™d prefer not to be around him. Itā€™s not even the sister thing, I honestly think thatā€™s funny and a nice change of pace, but his overall demeanor is creepy. Not to mention heā€™s played by Todd Haberkorn and heā€™s been in one too many roles recently. Hopefully Iā€™ll get over it, but as for now, that loses him points.
Tsumugi ShiroganeĀ - I know, not exactly an unpopular opinion. Sheā€™s just annoying and downright pisses me off a lot of the time with herĀ ā€œplainā€ shtick. I already knew she was going to be the mastermind, so most of the game was just me waiting for her to reveal it. I swear, I almost couldnā€™t take it every time she said something like,Ā ā€œWhat if there isnā€™t a mastermind?ā€Ā ā€œWhat?? Thereā€™s a mastermind????ā€ Just stfu Tsumugi. You all are lucky I donā€™t have the energy to talk about 3-6 right now.
MonokidĀ - Hate the tongue sprite, thatā€™s literally the only reason heā€™s down here. Heā€™s also kind of annoying, but made the best addition to an execution out of all of the monokubs. His death was one of the few things that surprised me in this game and it was a welcome twist. I was sick of him by this point, but was still incredibly shocked when he was pushed into the execution. Then, his severed head rolls out to all of the students looking on in shock at Kaedeā€™s death. Masterful. Still hate the tongue sprite.
There we go. Definitely my least favorite cast out of the whole series, but itā€™s still fun to love on and hate on a lot of the characters, as per usual. There are just a few too many in the middle tier (metaphorically speaking) that are either uninteresting or just donā€™t get their time to shine. Maybe theyā€™ll eventually grow on me more, but I doubt it.
